Be Seen. Be Safe.
With shorter days and darker winter conditions, it can be harder for drivers to see pedestrians and bicyclists. Please help keep yourself safe by wearing reflective clothing, using lights when possible, and following all traffic laws.
Additionally, due to construction along Highway 99, ODOT is reinstalling bus stops. Some stop locations may look different or be temporarily confusing. Please stay alert, use caution when approaching stops, and allow extra time. Please be extra cautious during darker winter hours and when visibility is limited.
Help prevent these tragedies by following these tips:
As a driver:
✅ Be extra vigilant at dusk – it’s harder to see pedestrians.
✅ Watch out for pedestrians at corners and mid-block marked, or unmarked crosswalks.
✅ Slow down and look for movement in the dark.
As a pedestrian:
✅Avoid wearing dark clothing that blends into your surroundings.
✅Wear bright colors during the day and light, or reflective gear at night.
✅ Carry a flashlight or use a headlamp when it’s dark, rainy. foggy or cloudy.
